Pokémon's 16th anniversary

Today it's exactly 16 years ago the first Pokémon games ever were released. On February 27th 1996 Pocket Monsters Red and Pocket Monsters Green (in Japan it's originally called Pocket Monsters) were released. The project took six years to make and nearly drove Game Freak into bankruptcy. It's early concept was called Capsule Monsters. The Pokémon series nowadays counts 649 Pokémon, 5 generations, dozens of games, hundreds of volumes of manga, 15 seasons of anime and thousands of trading cards.
